Yes, classes run throughout the year, except during Christmas and New Year breaks.
Classes pause during the Christmas and New Year period when the halls are closed. Training resumes in January as per the regular schedule.
- For our Star Tigers group (ages 3 to 6), we kindly ask parents to stay in the class to support their children and ensure they feel comfortable.
- For children aged 7 and above, parents are welcome to stay and watch if they wish, but it’s not obligatory.
We primarily focus on Taekwondo, teaching traditional forms (Poomsae), sparring techniques, and self-defence. Fitness and overall physical development are integral parts of our program, making it ideal for anyone looking to stay active and healthy. Additionally, as part of our syllabus for belt progression, students will also have the opportunity to learn nunchaku training.
We divide our classes by age to ensure the best experience for every student. You can view our programs and classes here:
- STAR Tigers (3 - 6 years)
- STAR Children (7 - 11 years)
- STAR Juniors (12 - 17 years)
- STAR Adults (18+ years)
Yes, our classes are designed to accommodate all skill levels, from complete beginners to advanced practitioners. Our instructors tailor lessons to ensure everyone is challenged and supported.
Yes, every month we focus on a specific life skill to help students develop both on and off the mat. For example, in January, we discuss goals and actions, helping students understand the importance of setting and working towards objectives. Alongside this, we introduce a special exercise challenge for the month, which is adapted to each student's ability. For January, the exercise is plank training, emphasising core strength and perseverance.
We teach students of all ages, starting from 3 years old in our Star Tigers program to adults of all levels, including some of our most dedicated students who are 70+ years young.
Taekwondo offers countless benefits for both children and adults, including:
- Physical Fitness: Build strength, flexibility, coordination, and overall health.
- Confidence: Boost self-esteem through goal-setting and achievements like earning belts.
- Discipline: Develop focus, patience, and respect for oneself and others.
- Self-Defence Skills: Learn practical techniques to protect yourself in real-life situations.
- Mental Resilience: Improve concentration, stress management, and perseverance.
- Fun and Community: Join a supportive and friendly environment where lifelong friendships are built.
Training & Progression
We usually hold belt grading opportunities every 3 months for all students, depending on their readiness. Entry for belt promotion opportunities are at the discretion of the instructor team - this encourages students to demonstrate their progress and earn their next belt when they are fully prepared. (Please note that additional fees are applicable to gradings)
On average, it takes 4-5 years of consistent training, but this depends on individual progress and dedication.
